People were sending it down South Negley Avenue and Rialto Street—which, let's be real, is steeper than some blue runs I've skied out West!

The Big Apple Gets Frosted
NYC wasn't left out of the party. Central Park turned into a winter wonderland with over 11 inches of snow. Even the Flying Tomato himself, Shaun White, was out there getting some turns in! If it's good enough for an Olympic gold medalist, it's good enough for us mortals.

Up in Toronto, our Canadian buddies got absolutely buried. We're talking historic snowfall—nearly 60cm (that's about 2 feet for my American friends)! Cars were literally disappearing under the white stuff.

Look, I've spent 15 years chasing storms, and urban skiing is a bucket list experience, but it's gnarly on your gear. Do NOT bring your brand-new powder planks to the street fight. You need "rock skis"—old beaters you don't mind scratching on asphalt or hidden curbs.
If you're looking to build a quiver that can handle a beating, you want something durable. I recommend checking out some sturdy park skis that can take a hit, like the K2 Poacher Skis. They are built to withstand rails, so they can handle a little Pittsburgh pavement.
Also, protect your dome! Curbs are harder than snow. Grab a solid lid like the Smith Vantage Helmet. And for your hands, you want tough leather, not delicate fabrics. The Black Diamond Spark Gloves are sick for this.
