Grands Montets – Argentière Übersicht

Grands Montets – Argentière, a renowned ski resort, provides an exceptional skiing experience with a stunning backdrop of the Massif du Mont Blanc, the highest point in Western Europe. However, while the breathtaking views and well-groomed trails make for an excellent skiing experience, it's important to note that the resort may not be best suited for beginners.

The resort offers two lifts, Lognan and Plan Jordan. The Lognan lift is closer and recommended for sightseers, offering a scenic ride to the top. The Plan Jordan lift, albeit a bit further away, has a larger capacity, ensuring skiers are on the slopes swiftly. It should be noted, however, that the walk to the lifts can be cumbersome, particularly in ski boots, and bus stops could benefit from being nearer.

The resort is globally recognized for its off-trail skiing, which is considered phenomenal. The resort's terrain is not overly crowded, allowing skiers to truly enjoy their experience. Despite the main cable car being out of service due to a fire in 2018, the Plan Jordan cable car is operational and offers access to the slopes.

The resort is also known for its picturesque glacier trails. A walk to the glacier is a must-do, offering awe-inspiring views of the Aguille Verte. While there is no restaurant at the top, a shelter can be reached via a pleasant trail.

The resort's village, nestled amidst fir trees at an altitude of 1200m at the base of the Mont Blanc valley, offers a charming retreat. The Grand Montet area offers a significant altitude difference, making it the mecca of freeride skiing.

However, the resort’s night staff have been reported to lack politeness. There have also been instances of slow service, particularly when obtaining ski passes. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Grands Montets – Argentière remains a top-notch ski destination, known for its breathtaking landscapes, a wide variety of slopes, and extraordinary freeride area.
