Jiigatake Übersicht

Jiigatake Ski Resort, nestled within the mountainous landscape, is a stunning destination for nature enthusiasts, offering both awe-inspiring views and well-maintained trails. This resort is especially known for the Kashiwara Shindo Trail, which is renowned for its excellent upkeep, making it easily navigable for hikers. One of the unique experiences at Jiigatake is the opportunity to reach the summit of Mt. Jigatake, a journey that typically takes around 5 hours, including breaks.

Once at the summit, visitors are greeted by the spectacular view of Mt. Kentate right in front of them. Even in November, the trailhead is usually covered in snow, adding an element of wintry charm to the climb. The routes are straightforward and user-friendly, with minimal challenging spots, making it an accessible outing for beginners. However, it should be noted that weather conditions such as snowfall can make the climb more challenging and caution is advised.

The Taneike Sanso area of the climb is particularly breathtaking, with weekends often featuring the extra attraction of freshly baked pizza for hikers to indulge in. The Kashiwara New Trail is known for its steep climb until the midpoint, but its excellent maintenance ensures a manageable ascent. This trail offers a comfortable climbing experience, shaded from the sun and surrounded by bush until the Taneike Sanso area is reached.

Despite the occasional fog obscuring the view, the scree trail to the summit is an enjoyable climb, winding through dwarf pines. A popular spot to take a break is the mountain hut, where visitors can enjoy the limited-availability freshly baked pizza. The descent is equally enjoyable, often accompanied by intermittent sunlight. Visitors also have the opportunity to purchase unique memorabilia like the "Grandpa" T-shirt.

In the autumn, Jiigatake offers an added spectacle of fall foliage, making it a vibrant climbing destination. The view on the southeast side might be limited, but the Japan Sea side offers a clear view, allowing hikers to enjoy the mountain scenery. However, caution is advised on the descent, as the steep trails could potentially strain the knees. Overall, Jiigatake Ski Resort provides an unforgettable experience for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a blend of adventure and natural beauty.
