Mountain Creek – Vernon

“The Mountain Creek trails in Vernon presented a thrilling challenge. As a beginner to intermediate rider, I found it beneficial to opt for a private lesson. My instructor, Jeff, had an excellent knowledge of the trails and provided detailed instructions which helped me progress from green trails to more technical blue ones. The trails are modestly labeled, with green ones offering a decent challenge and the technical blues demanding a firm grip and focused attention. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I'm eager to return for another try.”

“My recent visit to Mountain Creek - Vernon revealed a disappointing lack of maintenance. The trails had numerous brown patches that felt more like riding on dirt than snow. The food offerings were also subpar, with the grilled chicken sandwich being particularly unimpressive. However, I must commend the service at the beer garden, where the bartenders were especially efficient and attentive. Considering the status of the resort, one would expect a higher level of upkeep and facilities.”

“My first visit to Mountain Creek in Vernon was in the spring of 2023 for an Earth Day event. I had the pleasure of participating in the trail cleanup of hiking trails with a group of friends. This place is incredibly beautiful and well-kept. Although I didn't get a chance to try the skiing, the overall experience was quite memorable. It would be a wonderful addition if they would allow lift rides during the summer. The location was perfect, warranting a perfect score.”

“My experience at Mountain Creek - Vernon was rather mixed. I noticed that they are quite strict about the usage of triple play cards, going to great lengths to prevent sharing among family and friends. They employ scanners that display your photo to ensure the card is being used by the rightful owner. If a mismatch is detected, security is called and the card is confiscated permanently. I saw this happen to a woman who was using her son's card because he was unwell. They refused to return the card even after a heated dispute with her husband. I saw multiple people being removed from the lift line for the same reason. I understand the need to regulate the use of these cards, but I believe there could be a less confrontational approach. Instead of confiscating the cards, simply not allowing people to use the lift with someone else's card would incentivize them to purchase their own, without creating a negative experience. On a positive note, the park itself offers some enjoyable trails for the region. The water park and alpine coasters are also quite delightful. An additional perk for triple play and season pass holders is that children under 6 receive a free season pass to the magic carpet area.”
