Whitetail

“Whitetail is a wonderful spot for beginners learning to ski; however, seasoned skiers may find the slopes somewhat uninspiring. There were issues with the express quad lift frequently breaking down which impacted the day's activities. Despite these setbacks, the experience was still memorable, or in other words, quite "Epic". On a brighter note, the staff were commendable with their friendly and efficient service, displaying positive attitudes throughout. The ski instructors deserve special mention for their exceptional instruction. Additionally, the night skiing offered here is truly an exciting feature.”

“My experience at Whitetail was less than satisfactory due to the overwhelming bureaucracy and noticeable absence of COVID-19 preventative measures. After arriving at 10, it took nearly two hours to obtain our lift tickets, despite having made reservations and payments in advance through Vail Resorts. Following a two-hour drive, we had to endure another two-hour wait to enter the park, and an additional hour and three quarters for rentals. The saving grace of the day was the empathetic and proficient staff who assisted us with boot fittings in the fairly empty rental center. Despite claims of operating at a mere 25% of its usual capacity, it was the most crowded I have ever seen the place. It's worth mentioning that Vail Resorts also owns Liberty and Roundtop. “I had an exceptional tubing experience at Whitetail! The check-in process was swift and smooth, and the crowd was quite manageable, enabling me to enjoy numerous runs. The staff was amicable and engaging, contributing significantly to the fun of the experience. Despite booking a two-hour slot about 10 days prior and having concerns about the weather and potential overcrowding, everything turned out perfectly. There had been no snowfall for weeks, and the temperatures were not conducive for snow-making at the resort. However, the website assured that a number of ski-runs and tubing were open. Upon arrival, I found parking to be plentiful and check-in for tubing was a breeze. I arrived just before my 5PM slot, provided my confirmation number, and was issued tickets promptly. The crowd was minimal due to the effective reservation system, ensuring short waiting times. I managed to have quite a number of successful runs, leaving me feeling utterly fulfilled. The staff was fantastic. The tube attendants at the top were friendly and full of lively chatter. They ensured everyone was safely seated, accommodated special requests like grouping tubes for families, gave a good push for a running start, and even initiated spinning if requested. There were also safety observers at the bottom ready to assist when needed - one of them, Liz, kindly retrieved my lost glove. In conclusion, the evening was perfect and the staff was exceptional. “While visiting Whitetail, I found that purchasing drinks and snacks required a significant investment. Even the cost of water and fountain sodas seemed high, not to mention the price of burgers and a small bag of chips. In terms of the skiing experience, during a two-hour window, I was able to make approximately six descents without stopping. Despite the enjoyable time I had, I did feel that the prices were excessively high.”
