Choei Anpeizan

“My friends and I, all being novices, thoroughly enjoyed our time at the 'Choei Anpeizan' ski spot. The slopes were accessible for us to practice, which was beneficial. We rented snowboarding equipment for the day and spent our time honing our skills. We even tried the lift once, which was an exhilarating experience suitable for beginners and possibly intermediate level skiers. However, they do not offer rentals for goggles, gloves, and other accessories, so remember to pack yours! The staff treated us superbly and I highly recommend this place. To get there, take a train to the closest city and then a taxi to the location.”

“I visited Choei Anpeizan in February 2022 and found it to be a very enjoyable experience. I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars, though I was tempted to give it a perfect score due to its convenient location close to me. Skiing is available on Mondays, which I discovered when I checked out the place on a separate Saturday. I was particularly fond of the pair lift and found no reason to complain. I did wonder, however, whether it might get crowded during holidays. The ski courses are immediately accessible after disembarking from the lift and are divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. The beginner's course is gently sloped and somewhat circular, not too gentle or narrow, and can be used as an alternative when other courses are crowded. The lift ride time is roughly 3 minutes and 30 seconds, with a 5-minute interval before the next ride. On a typical Monday morning, I noticed about six general visitors and approximately 20 elementary school students participating in a class on the intermediate course. Despite the class, the course wasn't crowded and I found the overall skiing experience smooth and enjoyable. On another weekday, I noticed a class of about 30 Self-Defense Forces members who were replaced later in the afternoon. Still, the lifts remained mostly unoccupied. On a holiday, I only inspected the parking lot. It was quite busy, with about 50 vehicles parked by 10 a.m. and over 100 by noon. Despite the number of vehicles, I found no queue at the lift and the ski slope appeared quite empty, which might have been a coincidence. The rest house located at the foot of the mountain was spacious, offering rental skis, vending machines, and a variety of food and beverages including cup noodles, coffee, rice balls, pinots, and Yukimi Daifuku. I found the hot coffee particularly satisfying. However, the rice balls were a bit small. Also, on weekdays, there seemed to be only one staff member, which might cause delays in customer service. Overall, I believe this place is quite popular given the size of its slope.”

“As someone new to skiing, I found Choei Anpeizan to be an excellent starting point. However, for those seeking extended runs, this may not be the ideal location. After honing my skills here, I feel prepared to take on larger ski resorts.”
