“During my stay in Bansko, I had an unfortunate incident where my 7-day ski pass was blocked on the third day. I had lent it to my husband briefly while I had to work, unaware that he was not allowed to use it. Despite offering to purchase a new one, the response was far from understanding. The security treated my husband harshly, even with our baby present, and subsequently blocked our ski pass. When I tried to resolve the issue, the security was aggressively dismissive and unhelpful. I felt disrespected and unfairly treated. The local police were present but offered no assistance, instead choosing to mock our predicament. This experience left me feeling that Bansko does not adhere to EU standards or culture. I was left with a distinct feeling of vulnerability during my stay in Bansko. The lack of accountability and respect for personal rights was deeply unsettling. As a woman, I found my interactions with the security particularly troubling. They were dismissive, disrespectful, and aggressive, making me feel unheard and unimportant. Moreover, the infrastructure left much to be desired. The wait time for the Gondola was excessively long, often lasting 2-3 hours. Additionally, the ski slopes were poorly maintained and inadequately marked. Overall, my experience in Bansko was less than satisfactory.”

While the base area feels touristy with inflated prices, the town offers abundant accommodation options, nightlife, and international atmosphere. Best suited for intermediate skiers and remote workers seeking longer stays, though the poor lift access and crowding can significantly impact the experience.”
