Pine Knob

“My recent experience at Pine Knob was quite disappointing, prompting me to consider not returning. I found the nearby Mt. Holly to be a more appealing alternative. My visit was marred by the behavior of the staff, which was less than satisfactory. I observed a significant number of employees who seemed to be under the influence while operating the ski lifts, which raised serious safety concerns. Moreover, I faced an unpleasant situation at the lodge where the service was far from courteous. A waitress abruptly took my drink without any prior request for identification, despite my age well over the legal limit. This incident left a sour note, and I believe there's a need for staff to maintain a certain level of professionalism and respect towards visitors.”

“I had a delightful day skiing with friends at Pine Knob. It's a truly enjoyable winter destination. I was impressed by the efficiency and helpfulness of the staff, who quickly assisted us in obtaining our tickets and renting our equipment. This place is a must-visit for winter sports enthusiasts.”

“My experience with Pine Knob had its ups and downs. The ski school restructuring was rather chaotic and both entities, the resort and ski school, seemed disorganized when issues arose. Despite giving money for lift tickets, I was disappointed to find that I did not receive the tickets and the business office did not effectively address this problem. I find it disheartening that despite increasing costs, there are no noticeable improvements or updates. On the other hand, as a novice skier with children who are also beginners, we found Pine Knob enjoyable. It may be a bit perplexing for new families at the outset, but it is definitely rewarding in the end. The ski classes that come with the ski club membership (which can be obtained through school or another organization) were immensely beneficial for my children. Plus, the lodge has opened up for adults to unwind with a drink while the kids are skiing.”

“There's a definite need for better signage at Pine Knob to indicate when the lifts are closed for grooming. I witnessed an unfortunate incident where an attendant had to yell at several people who were simply unaware of the closure. A bit of polite instruction would certainly have been preferable and could have avoided the whole situation. On a positive note, Pine Knob is a wonderful local ski resort. Although it may be a bit small compared to other resorts, its proximity to the metro-Detroit area makes it a convenient choice for skiing. I haven't explored other local resorts, but from my experience, Pine Knob could very well be the best in the vicinity!”
