Bibai Kokusetsu

“I spent an enjoyable four hours at Bibai Kokusetsu, which provides four unique courses serviced by a single lift. The courses are nestled between trees, adding a touch of natural beauty to the experience. Despite the courses being relatively brief, they were a fantastic introduction and a great way to kickstart my trip. The location is also quite convenient, being just an hour and a half away from New Chitose.”

“Bibai Kokusetsu is a large ski resort known for its well-maintained snow, although I personally would appreciate some areas with natural, untouched snow. On my visit, I noticed that the majority of skiers seemed to be more experienced, with only a few beginners around. Parents were seen supervising their children at the base of the course, reminiscent of a swimming school setup. The resort's parking facilities are somewhat limited, leading many visitors to park on the street. During my time there, the resort management requested, via the PA system, for those parked on the street to relocate due to impending enforcement of parking regulations by the local police. This situation was quite challenging given the small size of the dedicated parking area.”

“During my visit to Bibai Kokusetsu, I was pleasantly surprised by the fair size of the place. The convenience of being able to ski all courses with just one central lift was a definite plus, and each course offered a delightful length that exceeded my initial expectations. However, I did encounter a minor concern regarding the parking facilities. The parking lot seemed a bit limited in size, and depending on the time of day, I found difficulty securing a spot. The alternative of street parking wasn't particularly appealing to me, and at times, it felt as if the only option was to patiently wait for a spot to become available. Improvements in this area would certainly enhance the overall experience.”

“Upon visiting Bibai Kokusetsu, I found that it's a popular destination, evident by its large parking lot that can house around 250 cars. However, it fills up quite fast, especially if not visited early in the morning. With no guides available, it may be challenging to navigate the lanes. When the parking lot reaches capacity, cars often resort to parallel parking, making entry and exit difficult. Moreover, the overflow results in cars parked on the street, which is narrow and not ideal for parking, especially when buses are passing by. As for the site itself, I noticed that the rest house and the lift ticket sales point are quite a distance apart, with only one pair of lifts on the latter side. This could be an area for improvement. Moreover, instances of people cutting into the lift lines were observed, which occasionally led to disagreements. Unfortunately, there seemed to be no staff monitoring these situations. On a positive note, the lift service is commendable, with reasonable wait times and a fairly long course. It's particularly suitable for beginners and intermediates. However, I believe enhancements could be made, such as increasing the number of lifts or updating the existing facilities.”
