Alpensia Overview

Alpensia Ski Resort, nestled in the heart of a picturesque mountain landscape, is a charming small-scale ski destination maintained by the Holiday Inn hotel chain. The resort is aesthetically pleasing, with a distinct Alpine feel and scattered buildings across the property. It offers a selection of restaurants and convenience stores, as well as two hotels, the Holiday Inn and the Intercontinental, all within walking distance.

Skiing at Alpensia is a delightful experience, especially given the well-groomed ski runs and the ample snowfall. Despite its compact size, the resort features around six ski runs, predominantly of intermediate difficulty, with one green run for beginners. The resort is equipped with a ski house where guests can rent all necessary skiing equipment, including clothing. Skiing lessons are also available, however, they tend to get booked out quickly, so advance booking is recommended for those interested.

Alpensia caters to families, with a playground for children and various family-friendly activities. The resort is particularly popular during the snowy season, attracting both local and international visitors. Moreover, the snow sledge offers a fun-filled alternative to skiing, proving to be a hit among families with children.

Accessibility to the resort is relatively straightforward, with bus services available from Seoul to Pyeongchang, followed by a short taxi ride to Alpensia. Inside the resort, visitors can enjoy amenities such as a bar, café, and restaurant. Additionally, a movie library is available for guests to rent films and unwind in their rooms after a day on the slopes.

However, it is worth noting that the resort's appeal may be limited for experienced skiers and snowboarders due to the relatively short ski trails. Furthermore, some guests have expressed concerns about the condition of the streets during the winter, citing icy conditions as a potential safety issue. Despite these minor drawbacks, Alpensia is a welcoming ski resort offering a pleasant stay for families and beginner skiers.
