Alyeska Resort – Girdwood

“My family and I had a wonderful spring break at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood. The concierge and valet parking staff were incredibly helpful. Each time I retrieved my vehicle, I found it cleared of snow and nicely warmed up. The check-in process was efficient and smooth. We were given a room with a stunning view, which was very clean and comfortable. I appreciated the fact that the room was always adequately heated, unlike my experience in other ski resorts. The ski valet service was also a great convenience, making it easy to access our gear whenever we needed it. The SPA area was exceptional with a variety of different saunas, some of which could be privately enjoyed with family. It was clean, comfortable and well-maintained. The resort is also conveniently located next to several beautiful hiking trails. The politeness and friendliness of the resort staff stood out and made our stay truly pleasurable. I would definitely recommend this resort to friends and family. The great view, quiet surroundings, and kid-friendly amenities were some of the highlights of our holiday. “My stay at the Alyeska Resort in Girdwood was truly magical! I found myself completely awestruck by the 360-degree views from the top after taking the tram ride. It was like witnessing a glorious painting come to life. My accommodations in a signature room were spacious and immaculate, and I appreciated the daily provision of water. The staff was outstanding, offering assistance in navigating both the resort grounds and the surrounding area. Their service was truly top-notch. I was also fortunate to experience the Spa, which was an absolute treasure. The Nordic massage, in particular, was of exceptional quality. This resort was the perfect blend of luxury and comfort, offering breathtaking views and a romantic atmosphere while also being very kid-friendly. It was the ideal choice for my family holiday.”

“My room at Alyeska Resort – Girdwood seemed a bit outdated and was unfortunately situated above the front entrance where the delivery trucks come and go. The noise from their backup alarms was frequent and could be disruptive to sleep. Also, I found that all the on-site shops automatically added a 30% tip to purchases. However, the view from my 4th-floor room was absolutely stunning. I visited during the week and it was quite quiet until Friday when it became bustling with people, presumably locals coming for the weekend. If you prefer a quieter stay, I would suggest visiting from Monday to Thursday. The hotel staff was very pleasant during all our interactions. The overall experience was enjoyable, with the room, service, and location rating 4, 5, and 5 out of 5 respectively. The highlights of the hotel are its great view and tranquility.”

“I enjoyed a delightful week at Alyeska Resort, with a few areas that need betterment, but it served as an excellent spot for heli skiing and unwinding. On the bright side, the Signature Rooms are undoubtedly an upgrade - neat, contemporary, and far superior to the standard ones. The room ambiance is cozy with adjustable lighting, the bed is comfortable, and the linens are high-quality. The Wi-Fi throughout the resort is impressive, quick, and reliable. The shuttle service around Girdwood was extremely convenient, taking us to restaurants and the ski area daily without any problems. The indoor pool, sauna, and whirlpool were perfect for unwinding after a long day of skiing. The hot tub was slightly too hot but well-kept. The resort's scenic tram access and proximity to the Nordic Spa was a bonus. However, despite the maintenance efforts, the resort feels slightly antiquated. The Signature Rooms have been renovated, but certain aspects remind you that it's not a newly built property. The coffee setup in the room is basic, with a Keurig machine instead of Nespresso, and only sachets of creamer/sugar and a plastic stir stick. The room's climate control was a bit of a challenge, as it was too warm even when adjusted. The bathroom fixtures were outdated, particularly the shower, which lacked a hose or rain shower, making it inconvenient. Another downside is that breakfast is not included, which can add up over several days. As a point to note, the resort isn't affiliated with a major hotel group, so there are no rewards points or loyalty benefits. The ownership changed in 2018 and is now under Pomeroy Lodging, a Canadian hospitality group. They have made strides in improving certain areas, but it still feels like they're not quite there yet. To sum it up, if you're thinking of a ski trip to Girdwood, Alyeska Resort is indeed the most comprehensive option available. Opt for the Signature Room and utilize the shuttle to explore local cuisine. With a few enhancements (particularly the bathrooms), it could easily become an outstanding 5-star experience.”
