Brezovica Ski Resort, nestled in the picturesque slopes of Sharri National Park, is a popular winter tourist destination in Kosovo. At elevations between 1718 to 2522 metres above sea level, it boasts a beautiful landscape that draws visitors from around the globe. However, despite its stunning natural beauty, many visitors find the resort underdeveloped with several chairlifts often inoperative, limiting the skiing options. The resort has the potential for substantial ski investment, but currently offers only a single double chairlift, which can result in long queues, especially during weekends.
While Brezovica is mainly a winter destination for skiing and snowboarding, it also offers eco-tourism opportunities during the summer, such as hiking and mountain biking. However, visitors should note that the resort's cable cars and chairlifts cease operation during the summer months. Despite this, the panoramic views from the peak are breathtaking and well worth the trek. Nearby attractions include Štrbac Lake, accessible via hiking trails.
Despite its natural charm, Brezovica has been criticized for its lack of child-friendly amenities. Visitors with small children should be aware that the resort lacks dedicated lanes and playgrounds for children, increasing the risk of accidents. Moreover, some visitors have expressed disappointment with the management of the resort, citing affiliations with potentially divisive political contexts.
While the resort is situated in Kosovo, it is also considered one of the largest centers of winter tourism in Serbia. However, visitors often comment that the atmosphere doesn't feel distinctively Serbian, suggesting an opportunity for a more inclusive and culturally respectful experience. Despite these issues, many find the natural splendor of Brezovica Ski Resort undeniable, with its majestic Charohi Mountains serving as a beautiful backdrop to this winter wonderland.
