Jam Katsuyama

“I frequent Jam Katsuyama several times annually. Its accessibility and well-designed course layout are highly appealing. Unlike Okumino and Okuibuki, it is not typically crowded with individuals demonstrating poor etiquette. My recent visit was particularly pleasant, featuring a spectacular view of a cloud sea, along with favorable weather and snow conditions. However, the experience was slightly marred by longer lift waits and a congested restaurant. Given these factors, I would rate the service and location at 4 out of 5.”

“I found Jam Katsuyama, a Tokyu ski resort, to be well constructed, living up to my expectations. It's situated approximately three hours away from Osaka. Personally, I was quite fond of this place due to the long skiing distances it offers. Additionally, the forest course turned out to be surprisingly engaging. I'd rate their service at a solid 4, while the location gets a decent score of 3 from me.”

“I had the pleasure of snowboarding at Jam Katsuyama on January 15th. Despite only being able to visit once a year, the variety of courses always keeps the experience exciting. The quad lift significantly reduced congestion, adding to the overall enjoyment. However, I did notice frequent weather changes, which is typical for mountainous regions. At one point, a sudden cloud engulfed us, which was a bit frightening, but the view of the sea of clouds was truly breathtaking. It was indeed a vacation to remember. The hotel deserves a solid 4-star rating for rooms, service, and location, with the highlight being the fantastic view.”

“I visited Jam Katsuyama, which is the largest ski resort in western Japan, and I found it neatly divided into three distinct areas for beginners, intermediates, and advanced skiers. Despite noticing some older, veteran skiers populating the advanced section, which gave it a slightly off-putting vibe, I was pleasantly surprised by the organization of the resort. The beginner's area was quite lively, although the groups of young boarders could sometimes be bothersome. The intermediate section was the most crowded, causing some lines for the lifts, but the wait time was shorter than I anticipated, providing a stress-free experience. I believe this place could be a lot of fun for college students traveling in groups. As a solo traveler, I had to pay a fee, which made frequent visits a bit challenging. The resort has excellent radio entertainment with a fantastic DJ, which I personally enjoyed. Accessibility is a breeze with a free private road from Fukui city. The on-site restaurant was a bit pricey, but manageable with a little timing adjustment. And the view from the hotel was simply breathtaking. My trip to Jam Katsuyama was a vacation I embarked on solo.”
