Kapellenberg Overview

Kapellenberg Ski Resort is a delightful destination, nestled amidst an enchanting forest. The serene beauty of the surrounding forest and the moderately challenging climb to the resort make the journey itself an experience. On arrival, guests are met with warm hospitality, embodied by the charming personnel who not only facilitate ticketing but also bring to life the rich history of the tower.

The resort features a striking watchtower that is a beacon of attraction for its visitors. The tower, ingeniously built around a triangulation column, hosts informative boards on each of its numerous floors. The viewing platform offers a panoramic view of the surroundings on three sides, with the fourth side intriguingly left blank. The platform affords a breathtaking view of the Fichtelgebirge, Kaiserwald, and Erzgebirge, especially when the weather is favorable.

Despite its popularity, the resort maintains a sense of tranquility and exclusivity, with viewing times smartly managed to avoid overcrowding. However, it is advisable to check the opening times before planning a visit. Generally, the tower is open every Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The tower is unfortunately closed at 5:00 p.m. but the resort area remains a lovely place to relax and take in the beauty of nature.

Kapellenberg is not just a ski resort but also a hub for hiking enthusiasts. Multiple hiking trails crisscross the resort, each offering its unique challenges and rewards. The resort is also accessible via various routes for those who prefer biking. The view of the Czech Republic from the tower is a must-see for visitors.

In summary, Kapellenberg Ski Resort is the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and natural beauty. It's a destination that promises a unique experience for everyone while offering some of the best views in the region. The commitment of the resort's volunteers, fondly referred to as the "tower couple," ensures that the tower remains in excellent condition, enhancing the overall experience for all visitors.
