Laber – Oberammergau Overview

Nestled high in the mountains of Shikoku, Ikawa Kainayama is a charming, yet small-scale ski resort, renowned for its breathtaking views and family-friendly environment. The resort is uniquely positioned to offer unparalleled panoramic views on clear days, adding to the overall allure and appeal of the location.

The resort is particularly accommodating for young visitors, featuring a dedicated play ski spot with a user-friendly lift. The staff, while primarily Japanese-speaking, are known for their helpful and friendly demeanor, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all. The resort is also home to a restaurant and lodge, providing ample amenities for visitors to enjoy a full day of skiing. Please note that larger shoe sizes may not be readily available for rental, so visitors may need to bring their own equipment.

Ikawa Kainayama offers a variety of courses, making it suitable for skiers of all skill levels. Known for its good snow quality, the resort is frequented by skilled skiers, providing an excellent learning environment for beginners. However, the weather conditions in Tokushima can sometimes be unfavorable for skiing, so it's advisable to visit in January for optimal conditions.

Please be aware that the drive up to the resort can be challenging, especially for those unfamiliar with mountain roads. Snow tires are a must, and extra caution is necessary due to the often icy curves on the road. Despite these challenges, many visitors find the journey worthwhile.

Moreover, the resort also boasts an artificial snow machine to ensure sufficient snow coverage. The resort's management company is dedicated to maintaining the resort, making it a reliable choice for skiing enthusiasts. However, only cash is currently accepted for transactions at the resort.

While skiing is the main attraction, the cable car ride up the mountain offers stunning views, especially in February. Whether you're a seasoned skier or just seeking a day of mountainous beauty, Ikawa Kainayama offers an unforgettable experience.
