Omoshiroyama Overview

Omoshiroyama Ski Resort is a spectacular destination with an array of features that make for an unforgettable experience. It is especially striking in autumn, when the leaves transform into a dazzling display of yellow hues. The resort's tracks, while challenging, present an invigorating adventure for outdoor enthusiasts and the first-time mountain climbers alike. The ascent to the summit, though demanding, is worth the effort as the peak offers breathtaking panoramic views.

The journey to the summit involves tracing a route from the Tendo Kogen exit, through Mt. Misawa and Mt. Kitahoshiro, and finally to Kamoshikaguchi - Chozaemon Road. It's worth noting that parts of the Kamoshika course are a bit rugged and some areas of the Chozaemon Road have collapsed, requiring caution when traversing. As you ascend, the change in the foliage is quite noticeable and spectacular.

Upon reaching the summit, you are greeted with a vast and stunning view. It takes roughly two hours to reach the top from the parking lot, and the journey, while exhilarating, requires caution due to the steepness and poor footing in some areas. It's not uncommon to encounter wildlife, such as monkeys, along the route.

The descent from the top can be quite challenging due to the steep and rough terrain, but the expansive views from the top make the effort worthwhile. The resort offers a wide-open field of view, providing clear, unobstructed views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes.

To enhance the experience further, the resort has a campground at the trailhead equipped with water and toilet facilities, and a climbers' parking lot. A leisurely pace to the summit should take about four hours, but the breathtaking vistas make every moment worthwhile.

For those who prefer a more comfortable ride, the bamboo along the trails has been mowed. There is also a spring water source along the way for a refreshing break. On the return journey, a stop at the Tendo Road Station for a footbath is highly recommended for a relaxing end to the adventure.

The accessibility of the mountain, combined with its scenic beauty, makes it an ideal destination for all. The panoramic views from the mountaintop are truly spectacular, offering sights of Zao, Mt. Gassan, Asahi Mountain Range, and Mt. Chokai. The tranquility of the mountain, coupled with the stunning autumn colors, make for an unparalleled experience.

In summary, Omoshiroyama Ski Resort offers a unique blend of adventure, tranquility, and natural beauty that appeals to both seasoned climbers and beginners, making every visit a captivating experience.
