Piana di Vigezzo – Craveggia | Santa Maria Maggiore Overview

The Piana di Vigezzo – Craveggia | Santa Maria Maggiore Ski Resort is an appealing destination for both skiers and nature enthusiasts. This resort offers a convenient, efficient and comfortable cable car system which swiftly transports visitors from 1,000m to 1,700m above sea level within a short span of 15 minutes. Despite the resort's relatively smaller scale compared to some Alpine skiing areas, it boasts a unique charm and offers visitors breathtaking panoramic views, particularly towards Monte Rosa. The cable car ride, which takes about 10 minutes, offers an opportunity to take in the stunning scenery of the alpine lakes and the valley below.

During the winter months, the resort offers good skiing opportunities and is popular with school groups, making it a vibrant and lively setting. Although the slopes are not recommended for beginners due to their technical nature, they offer a great deal of excitement for intermediate and expert skiers. The resort also offers a number of comfortable and efficient facilities, including a range of ski lifts and chairlifts, some of which date back to the 1970s but have been well maintained and still function effectively.

In addition to winter sports, the resort is a beautiful location for long walks, particularly in the summer months, although the heat can make it a bit uncomfortable. The area also has potential for mountain biking, although this is yet to be fully developed.

The resort also features a restaurant at the top, where you can enjoy a meal or a snack while taking in the magnificent views. The staff at the resort, including those in the rental office, are known for their friendly and helpful attitude.

Despite some limitations in terms of the number of ski slopes and the space for bobsleds, the Piana di Vigezzo – Craveggia | Santa Maria Maggiore Ski Resort is a highly recommended destination for those looking to enjoy a blend of outdoor sports and natural beauty. It is a place where visitors can find peace and tranquility, reconnect with nature, and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.
