Shichinohechoei Overview

Shichinohechoei Ski Resort is a compact, family-friendly destination that boasts a welcoming atmosphere. Despite its size, it offers a variety of ski trails that cater to a range of skill levels. Its relatively steep slopes, while challenging for beginners, add an exciting dimension to the skiing experience that advanced skiers appreciate.

The resort is unique in that it is town-run, a rarity among ski resorts, and it manages to create a relaxed, community-oriented environment. The snow quality at this resort is exceptional, offering powdered snow that maintains a good texture even after compaction, making it neither too hard nor too slippery.

While the resort is small, it offers ample opportunities for enjoyment. Whether you choose to ski on the right, left, or middle slopes, you'll find plenty of deep snow to enjoy until the afternoon, provided it's snowing. This local charm of the resort often makes it more enjoyable than larger, more crowded ski resorts.

The resort's location between two mountains in a narrow valley does limit some aspects of the skiing experience. However, for those seeking a light skiing experience and for those with limited stamina, the shorter runs are often enough.

In addition to day skiing, the resort also offers night skiing which is well-lit and offers a unique experience. Equipment rental is also available at the resort, adding convenience for those who don't own their own gear.

The resort operates seasonally, opening in winter and offering night skiing after the New Year. However, it's worth noting that night skiing operations are closed every Monday and Tuesday. Parking at the resort is free, and there's a rest area nearby that also serves as a dining room and rental space.

Despite its steeper slopes, which may not be ideal for beginners, the resort is a hidden gem that offers a unique, enjoyable skiing experience.
