Shimao Lotus Mountain Ski Resort, also known as Lianhuashan, is renowned for its stunning blend of natural beauty and historical significance. The site is easily accessible through various subway lines leading to Panyu Square Station, from where a short bus ride will take you directly to the resort. This makes the journey to the resort quite convenient, with travel time averaging about an hour to an hour and a half, depending on traffic conditions. Visitors can expect a variety of shops selling unique trinkets along the road upon arrival.
In addition to its natural splendor, Lianhuashan also boasts a rich and intriguing history as an ancient quarry site. With a legacy extending over 2,000 years, from the early Western Han Dynasty to the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, the site still retains remnants of its quarrying past. Stone pillars, slabs, and a large number of stones left behind from the ancient quarrying period contribute to the distinctive beauty of the scene.
Adding to the site's allure are the historical monuments and beautifully preserved Buddhist temples that dot the landscape. Unfortunately, the revered Guanyin statue is currently undergoing maintenance and is temporarily closed for viewing. Despite this, visitors can still appreciate its grandeur from a distance.
