Sitzmark Overview

Sitzmark is a charming ski resort that has been providing a unique skiing experience since the 60s. Nestled in the heart of the tranquil Okanogan farmland, this quaint hill is an unexpected gem in the midst of rural serenity. It's a place that evokes nostalgia, with many visitors recounting memories from their youth, and now creating new ones with their families.

The resort boasts a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere that visitors truly appreciate. Its small-town feel is amplified by its friendly staff and locals, who are always delighted to see new faces. The resort features a range of facilities, including a lodge that provides delicious burgers and snacks, a rental shop for gear, and rustic bathrooms that add to its charm.

Sitzmark is designed for all levels of skiers, with 10 runs that range from beginner to expert. It is equipped with a chairlift with around 80 chairs, a rope tow for beginners, and even tubing for non-skiers. The hill is also known for its short lift lines, offering a pleasant contrast to larger commercial ski hills.

The resort is known for its commitment to teaching new skiers, with top-notch ski patrol training. However, some visitors have reported mixed experiences with beginner instruction, suggesting room for improvement in this area.

Despite its size, Sitzmark holds its own with a 650 feet vertical, offering a variety of slopes including some with powder on the back side of the hill. The resort, which is open for a couple of months each year, is privately owned and has a vertical drop of about 500 feet.

In sum, Sitzmark is a delightful and homely ski resort that offers a unique skiing experience, wrapped in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Its picturesque setting, combined with its commitment to providing a fun and relaxed skiing experience, makes it a must-visit for those seeking a break from the hustle and bustle of larger ski resorts.
