Do note, the walk through the snow to reach the restaurant from the tent can be a bit challenging, especially for first-timers. 2. Gala Yuzawa offers a plethora of snow trails, each with its unique challenges, perfect for those craving variability. The breathtaking scenery adds to the overall experience. A basic understanding of skiing can significantly enhance your time here. 3. Ishiuchi Maruyama, while it offers an unparalleled experience, may provide a bit of a challenge for beginners. The practice area, which is covered in a snow blanket, is located midway up the mountain and quite a distance from the cable car station. Hence, first-time snowshoers might find it a bit tough.”

“During my visit to Yuzawa Kogen | ​Gala Yuzawa | ​​Ishiuchi Maruyama in February 2024, I found that the snowfall was a bit scarce and the quality wasn't at its best. However, I was delighted with the variety of slopes available and greatly enjoyed the many courses. The ski resort featured a high-speed gondola and lifts, and an impressive selection of restaurants. I was particularly pleased with the smooth and uncrowded lifts, thanks to my visit being on a weekday. The food options at the ski resort were diverse in both taste and style, and I found the restaurants a little off the beaten track were the best in terms of value and portion sizes. An additional benefit was the availability of night skiing until 21:00. I am eager to return during a year with greater snowfall.”

“Visiting the expansive ski slope in the Yuzawa area was an exciting experience. The slope is cleverly divided into three sections, which, while a little confusing, adds a sense of adventure. The central exit is the primary route, and I was pleased to see that both lifts and gondolas have been modernized with top-of-the-line equipment. The seats, complete with a moving floor and reminiscent of a car seat, are definitely worth trying out. The place tends to get quite busy during peak season, particularly with families. However, this opens up opportunities to try out the advanced and tree run courses. The range of meal options catered to tourists is impressive and the transparent dome tent lends a nice resort ambiance. My top recommendation would be to try out the night skiing. From the center entrance, you can get about two-thirds of the way up, providing ample distance and width for skiing. While the park isn't accessible at night, there are advanced courses and gaps to explore. Plus, it's almost like having the place to yourself, making it an excellent choice!”
