“I found Špičák to be a truly stunning location nestled in the heart of Šumava.”

“I had the chance to visit Ski Areal Špičák recently after a long while. Upon arrival, I was met with a rather unwelcoming lady at the ticket counter who seemed uninterested in providing information about the ski area. The staff at the lift appeared disinterested as well, some even seemed aloof, situated about 20 meters from the Poma lift. These employees did not assist the children approaching the Poma lift and instead were enjoying the sun. The ski slope marked as black was closed and resembled a partially plowed field. One of the Poma lifts was non-operational the whole time with two employees attempting to fix it while the rest watched. Approximately 80% of the slopes were in poor condition, looking as if they had been driven over by tractors and the markings were not clear. I had a not-so-pleasant experience at the kiosk near Hanicky as well. When I asked about the spread cheese in a baguette, the man serving seemed annoyed. Despite the cheese being fresh and tasty, the overall experience was marred by the bread which seemed to have been frozen, thawed, and re-frozen. The tea, however, was satisfactory. Despite the passage of 30 years, the conditions at the resort don't seem to have improved much. I feel that a bit of friendliness and willingness from the staff could greatly enhance the overall experience, but sadly, this was lacking. Based on my experience, I would personally recommend the ski resort Arber near our German neighbor where the slopes are well-maintained, staff are helpful and English-speaking, and ski passes are more affordable. I would not recommend Ski Areal Spicak based on my experience.”

“I've noticed significant changes at Špičák since 2022. Almost every trail has been restructured or completely transformed. Interestingly, they've introduced a new path specifically for beginners. However, as of May 14, 2023, it's not fully developed yet. One thing that's becoming increasingly apparent is the age of the lift, which is quite slow now. It roughly takes about 15 minutes to reach the summit. Despite this, Špičák serves as a great alternative to Geisskopf, especially during weekends when it tends to be overcrowded.”
