Himos

“As someone who has recently visited Himos, I was somewhat disappointed with my experience. It's not an ideal location for beginner skiers as most of the slopes are either black or red and are either icy or full of powder, making it a bit challenging. I also found the rental company's equipment selection to be less than satisfactory. Regarding the accommodations, they were not up to my expectations. Despite having a large group, the cabin we were provided with was rather unkempt, resembling a teenager's camp rather than a comfortable living space. The heating system was not functioning properly, resulting in cooler temperatures indoors than one would like, especially in the bedroom. The patio also had windows that were half a meter long. One of the few saving graces was the delightfully warm Minttu cocoa available at the center. However, this felt like a small consolation considering the overall experience.”

“I found Himos to be an excellent choice for skiing enthusiasts, although it may pose some challenges for novices as the slopes can be quite steep. Interestingly, the tourist slope, labeled as blue, felt more like a red one to me. The dining options left much to be desired, with little variation in the food offered. However, the condition of the slopes and lifts was impressive, giving me a variety of options to choose from.”

“Himos is a quaint ski resort that, while it may not measure up to Levi, is conveniently located near Tampere and Helsinki, making it a perfect destination for a weekend getaway. Despite its size, the resort caters to all skill levels: from novice skiers who can enjoy the gentle slopes, to seasoned sports enthusiasts who can challenge themselves on the red and black trails, and even a jump & fun park. The well-lit trails provide the opportunity for skiing long into the evening. While some of the lifts are slightly dated, upgrades are underway. The resort offers ample free parking, attentive service personnel and numerous dining options. However, I do find the prices of food and drinks to be steep, as well as the ski passes, particularly when not all trails are open. As a frequent visitor (around five or six times a year), I do wish for longer tracks, but a significant advantage is that the lift lines are typically very short.”
