About Mad River Mountain

Zanesfield, Ohio

Mad River Mountain is a ski resort situated in proximity to Columbus, offering a variety of hills and features that cater to skiers of all levels. Despite some criticisms, its decent slopes and location make it a popular choice for spending time with friends and family during the winter season. Some visitors have expressed dissatisfaction with the management of the resort following its acquisition by the EPIC Group. They assert that the resort seems to be a lower priority within the group's portfolio, leading to issues with organization and service provision. These include long wait times for services, even for customers who've pre-purchased tickets online, and the absence of a separate check-in for such customers. The decision to open the resort even when weather conditions are not optimal for maintaining good snow quality has also been a point of contention for some patrons. However, the resort does have a number of redeeming qualities. Its lounge area, with its large windows offering views of the slopes, is appreciated by observers, as is the ample seating. Its range of hills and features are also praised. However, some visitors recommend bringing your own food due to the mediocre quality of the cafeteria offerings. The resort can be extremely busy on weekends, leading to some recommending to visit on weekdays or during their Midnight Madness event on Friday and Saturday nights. Visitors also advise checking the conditions online before arriving, and being prepared for potentially long wait times to maximize time on the slopes. Despite these issues, many visitors still find value in the resort, particularly due to its large beginner area, making it a great place to learn to ride. However, there is a consensus among visitors that improvements can be made to the organization and cleanliness of the facility to enhance the overall experience.
