Blue Knob Overview

Blue Knob is a family-owned ski resort that exudes a warm, inviting atmosphere with a distinct throwback charm. It is recognized as a tranquil local retreat that offers an exciting skiing and snowboarding experience, making it a preferred destination for both families and school trips.

The resort takes pride in its natural snow coverage and impressive verticals, making it a top choice for mid-Atlantic skiing. While a portion of the slopes can present complex snow conditions due to melted snow, the skiing experience remains exhilarating, regardless of the weather. The rental equipment may be slightly dated, but it does not deter from the overall thrill of navigating the slopes.

Blue Knob boasts a variety of trails catering to different skill levels. The beginner's slope is separate and perfect for those learning to ski or snowboard, while more challenging trails like Extrovert offer seasoned skiers and snowboarders the opportunity to hone their skills. Despite the terrain park and its limited rails and boxes, the trails more than compensate for the park's shortcomings.

The resort places a strong emphasis on safety, with ski patrol constantly on hand to assist guests. The Blue Knob team is also commended for their diligent service. The resort's food offerings are described as decent, and the welcoming staff adds to the overall positive experience.

Guests commend Blue Knob for its affordability, making it a suitable choice for families. The new ownership is recognized for its efforts in upgrading the resort to match its contemporaries. The ski resort is also noted for its lack of lift lines and exceptional customer service.

While the resort is not primarily catered to beginners, it does offer a green trail, which is the longest in the state. Despite the length of the lift lines increasing after noon, guests still find the overall experience enjoyable.

However, it is worth noting that during peak periods, the management of lift lines could be improved. Though there is an additional lift, it is often left idle, causing lengthy waits. Despite this minor drawback, Blue Knob Ski Resort remains highly recommended by its patrons, who eagerly anticipate returning to its slopes.
