Bortelid Ski Resort, nestled approximately 90 minutes from Kristiansands, is a charming and well-maintained skiing destination suitable for all kinds of skiing and snowboarding. This family-friendly resort boasts four slopes, providing an ideal setting for a day trip of winter sports. Though the hills may not be very high and the slopes somewhat short, the resort compensates with its excellent maintenance, ensuring a pleasant experience regardless of the weather conditions.
The resort is appreciated for its intimate setting that never gets overcrowded, making it a more relaxing alternative to bigger resorts. The piste is generally well-liked, though some visitors have expressed disappointment with the lack of chairlifts and occasional closures due to construction. However, the available rental equipment is of high quality, though it's recommended for visitors to bring their own goggles.
Bortelid proves to be a wonderful and easily accessible location for families, featuring a small to medium-sized alpine slope with four lifts and a separate children's slope. The resort also provides a decent warming room on site with simple refreshments available. The surrounding terrain is perfect for off-piste driving and well-trodden trails, making it a versatile destination for winter sports enthusiasts.
However, despite its many positives, there are some aspects of Bortelid that could be improved. The resort's operating hours are somewhat limited, with activities ending as early as 3 PM. The on-site bar and rest area are modest, and there's no beer available on site. Additionally, some visitors have reported that the resort is mostly open only on weekends.
In summary, Bortelid Ski Resort is a charming, family-oriented destination with well-maintained slopes and quality rental equipment. Its intimate setting and manageable crowd size make it a relaxing choice for both skiing and snowboarding. However, potential visitors should be prepared for certain limitations, including limited operating hours and the lack of certain amenities.
